WOLLONGONG FC and Illawarra Stingrays junior clubs have received a $50,000 sponsorship deal from Illawarra Coal.

The two-year deal, with an option for a third year, will also increase the number of school visits the Wolves are able to make.

Wollongong FC chief executive Jock Morlando was delighted with the deal, which will help the juniors gain access to areas including nutrition and sports science.

"The sponsorship will also assist with our comprehensive school visits program throughout the area and beyond as we continue our commitment to the community as a whole," he said.

Stingrays president Rob McKie said the deal marked a great boost for women's football.

"We look forward to working with them and Wollongong FC to both spread our message of football," he said.

Illawarra Coal's general manager for sustainable development and external affairs John Brannon said the deal would help the Wolves continue their popular schools program.

"Wollongong FC already offers a unique program to schools in the Illawarra region," Brannon said.

"Through our sponsorship, this program will be made available to schools of the areas in which we operate in the Wollondilly region."
